Overview

Thank you for purchasing the Smart Wireless Oxygen in Air Sensor. We pride ourselves on producing high-quality products designed to meet the demands of the busy classroom environment.

If you experience any problems using the sensor, please read this documentation in full before contacting the Data Harvest Support Team.

The Smart Wireless Oxygen in Air Sensor is a 4-channel sensor that measures:

  • Oxygen: % O₂
  • Temperature: °C
  • Pressure: kPa
  • Humidity: %RH

The oxygen channel provides 0.01% resolution, allowing small changes in oxygen concentration to be detected and displayed. This high resolution provides detailed data that can help users identify subtle changes and trends, supporting more precise observation and analysis of experimental results.

The sensor can be used to investigate a wide range of biological, environmental and chemical processes, including:

  • Human respiration and breathing
  • Changes in exhaled air before and after exercise
  • Photosynthesis and plant respiration
  • Oxygen consumption during respiration in animals, insects, yeast and germinating seeds
  • Oxygen evolution during chemical reactions
  • Changes in oxygen concentration during combustion
  • Air quality investigations

The Oxygen in Air Sensor is an electrochemical sensor with an expected lifespan of approximately 5 years, depending on storage conditions and use.

Calibration is available directly through the EasySense App. Calibration can be used to compensate for changes in sensor output over time or to set the oxygen reading to a known oxygen concentration or local atmospheric conditions.

The additional temperature, pressure and humidity measurements allow environmental conditions to be recorded alongside oxygen concentration, making the sensor particularly useful for investigations where these factors may influence or help explain changes in oxygen levels.
